Recently people have been asking why it's important to record a family history.
They may not see a need at the moment because most of their loved ones surround them even if they're states or continents apart. They are living.
That's the reason.
They are here with you. Now.
Our own mortality seems to be infinite, but ultimately, it will come and go whether we've recorded our history or not.
How will you remember those who have gone on?
Likely it will be through the photographs of them, the videos you'll share, and the stories you'll tell.
The sad part of that is once they're gone, you'll wish you had more.
I know.
After Kristina lost her five year battle with stage 4 breast cancer, it was like grasping for straws to have photos, videos, and stories of her life. Nevermind that I took on the task of creating a video slideshow of her for the Celebration of Life, which gifted me nearly 800 photos and a handful of videos. They weren't enough.
What I really wanted was a professional portrait of her with our siblings together.
What I really wanted was a video of her telling her only child all the hopes and dreams she had for her.
What I really wanted was to hear her stories in her own words told by her so I could see her eyes light up and hear her giggle.
Not having those things is the reason I pivoted my business to capture your legacy.
It's so I can help you record your family history or at least help you record yours.
There's no visible expiration date on any of our lives. And even if there was, what would we make a priority?
My goal, my purpose, is to encourage you to make your life story and the life stories of those who are important to you, a recorded priority.
You just never know what the future holds.
Capturing videos of someone telling their story - childhood memories, school years, dating and marriage, work, and life - can be done face to face, but it doesn't have to be. You can record virtually.
The most important part is to do it. Not to wait.
As a matter of fact, if I had thought about this sooner, I would have recorded my children growing up telling their own stories. If you have little ones at home, you can do this now.
There's so many ideas I'm going to share with you. This is just the start.
Leaving a legacy is something anyone can do. We all have a phone.
Now, if you want it done professionally, I can do that for you. Tell Your Story!
