In honor of my friend, Friedo

In July 2023, Friedo and I met to discuss my idea to start a podcast featuring local nonprofits and good-deed doers in the community.

He loved the idea!  He said he'd pitched it to a sponsor five months prior, but hadn't heard back from them.

I told him that if he got it rolling, I would like to help if I could.  He didn't hesitate in asking if I'd co-host and then he enthusiastically said, "Let's do this!"

Since we didn't have a sponsor yet, I suggested waiting to find one, so we could launch in January.

He quickly said, "September!"

And we were off to the races!

  • we talked in July
  • we started recording in August
  • we aired in September
  • he passed away in October

It was devastating.

While connecting with others in the community, I was introduced to Buddy Broyles with Blue Mic Studios.  He offered to take on the production of the podcast.  We relaunched on October 1, 2024, in Friedo's honor.

We invite you to listen and get involved in impacting our community.

Calling on Nonprofits and Good-Deed Doers in North Texas

We record in person at Blue Mic Studios in Caddo Reimagined in Plano, Texas.

Whether you're a nonprofit or someone who is not a 501c3 but is involved in giving back to the community, we're interested in hearing your story.

Our listeners are looking for ways to impact the community, but may not be aware of all the local opportunities available.

For example, I've lived here for almost three years, have lost a sister to breast cancer, and had no idea that the National Breast Cancer Foundation was located in Frisco until recently.  With over 60,000 nonprofits in North Texas, I am sure there are so many more that we don't know are here, in our backyard.

One of our guests was the principal at a local school who rallied the students to gather non-perishable items for a local food bank and La Tiendita.  A collective activity that is going to be an annual opportunity now. Are there other schools or PTA's that hear that episode and get inspired to do the same or something similar?  I imagine so.

To consider being featured, click on the button below and I'll be in touch.

We encourage you to tag us at #HeartofNTX whenever you post about giving back.  Let's get more eyes and ears on the possibilities that exist here in North Texas.
