Longview Police Department Blue Santa at Welch Funeral Home

Children were welcomed into the Welch Funeral Home by snow at the entry this morning. A Christmas tree that nearly touched the ceiling was surrounded by presents just inside the door as they walked in. The children were greeted by Citizens on Patrol, local law enforcement, Welch Funeral Home attendants, and Pastor Bob Gray II of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Each year the Longview Police Department hosts a Breakfast with Blue Santa and today was the day. Everyone who came had a buffet of kolaches, pancakes, donuts, granola bars, fruit, juice, and bottled water to choose from. All of the children were given a book or a toy of their choosing. Citizens on Patrol offered free child identity protection to the families who attended.

This was a first for me. It was so neat to see the kids light up when they saw Santa. Even adults and teens wanted to have their photo taken with Santa.
