My Make-Up Artist

My make-up artist is someone that I've recently met.  At my first appointment we hit it off.  She's a wife, a mother, and a consultant for Younique.  

Before meeting Ashley, I had no idea what Younique was.  I'm not much of a make-up wearer. I did a little research and found out some great things that this beauty company does.  It sets itself apart not only by their high quality ingredients with a goal to provide healthy, clean, and pure cosmetics, but they also support and defend women and children in the fight against sexual abuse.  As you know, I am a volunteer for The Martin House locally, which encourages potential adolescent victims of abuse to come forward and speak out.  Knowing that Younique is such a big supporter of these victims, I am seeing what I can do to help.  Just purchasing their make-up is a beginning.

Ashley has done my make-up twice.  Once we did a test run and then I had her apply my personal branding session make-up.  Being a photographer, I don't get to be in front of the camera very often, so I wanted to make sure I looked natural, but good.  Once, before I moved to Longview, I had a make-up artist use a white foundation on me.  People, I am not extremely tan, but I am not white.  My face did not look natural.  It was a real disappointment.  

Ashley did such a good job and understood the look I was going for.  I'll be sharing my personal branding images soon.  They'll be posted on my website in a week, I hope.  I digress.  When Ashley and I set an appointment, she was careful to take into consideration the shape of my face, my eyes, and asked for images to show her the look I was hoping for.  I had never had anyone ask me some of those things.  I had never considered that not all eyelids are created equal. lol  It actually makes a big difference on the way eye make-up looks.  Just like we can't all have those gorgeous full lips naturally, we don't all have the ideal eyelids either.
